The trail starts at Tumalo Falls, an area decimated by the 1979 Bridge Creek Fire and now dominated by young ponderosa pines. Starting at the Skyliner trailhead, the trail runs up near the road on the ridge side to the Tumalo Falls trailhead. Tumalo Falls is a 97-foot (30 m) waterfall on Tumalo Creek, in the Cascade Range. Mountain bikes on North Fork Trail are allowed uphill only. If you hike upstream along the creek you will find more smaller waterfalls including Double Falls after 0.8 miles and then Middle Tumalo Falls after 0.9 miles.
