Homeowners in south London have been left with hundreds of thousands of pounds of “devastating” flood damage after a river burst its banks. We no longer believe there is a risk of flooding in this area. We will be continuing to monitor the situation and will issue further messages if this is required. “River levels are rising on the Emm Brook as a result of heavy rainfall. River levels have fallen following the heavy rainfall experienced over the last 48 hours. The area covered broadly equates to the area where the fisk of flooding in any year is greater than 1% (the "hundred year" flood risk). Water levels at the River Wandle are forecast to rise. Some further rain showers are forecast for the coming days but we do not presently expect these to result in flooding. Note: the area shown on the map is the area covered by flood alerts and warnings.
