There are trains quite regularly scheduled from Vilnius to Kaunas (or the other way around). Kaunas to Vilnius - 100 km.. Kaunas airport is outside of Kaunas itself, if you're going to take a train or a bus from Kaunas, you'll ride across the city to the bus station, and then bus will take you back across the city to the highway, which is quite near the airport, between the airport and Kaunas city (or in other words - between Karmelava town and Kaunas city). With the train it takes about one hour to get to Kaunas from the Lithuanian capital.
