But in 1968, a decision was made to widen the highway, including the tunnels on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The trail is rated as moderate and is primarily used for hiking and nature trips. After climbing Sideling Hill, Route 30 drops back down the mountain and it is at the base where Pump Station Road breaks off and heads north. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. A strong headlamp will be your best friend in here. Now, the sight looks post-apocalyptic.
